How this works — and what Get Reading Right really is
Free access to Unit 1, and the thinking behind it.
Get Reading Right provides physical resources
First and foremost, Get Reading Right provides physical resources: printed decodables in little hands, and teacher manuals you can write on, tab and cover in sticky notes. This online platform is simply here to let you try some of them in an online setting — easy for you, and easy for us. We think physical is how early reading is best taught, and there are good reasons we keep it that way in the classroom:
- 📖Real books in little hands — turning actual pages, with nothing on a screen to distract from the words.
- ✍️Teacher manuals you can write on, highlight, tab and fill with sticky notes — open on your desk through the whole lesson.
- 🔌Nothing to log into, charge, or have crash mid-lesson. It just works, every time.
- 🔁Durable and shareable — passed around the class and used again year after year.
Why this site is free
This platform is simply the easy way to try Unit 1 with your class and see whether it's right for your kids — no cost, no commitment. It's also inexpensive for us to run, which is exactly how we can offer it. A genuine win/win: you get to try before you buy, and we get to put Get Reading Right in front of more classrooms.
What the online decodables are for
Our online decodables aren't here to replace the books in your room — they support them. They're a safe way to send reading home without copies getting lost, damaged or never returned, and a way to reach more children than you have physical books for. In class, we'd still reach for the printed books.
If you decide to go ahead
What you'd order is the physical resources — and honestly, we think that's the best part. Buying the books is also what keeps Get Reading Right going, and keeps things like this free for the next school to try. You can order everything in one place on our order form ↗.
